Built with sleek modern steel frames instead of WaterRower’s traditional wooden frames, the WaterRower S1 and M1 are built to withstand intensive use and are ideal for commercial gym settings as well as home use.

The WaterRower S1 and WaterRower M1 offer the same functionality as WaterRower’s renowned wood-built machines, with their unique “water flywheel” that simulates the feel of real water rowing for an authentic workout.  Resistance on the WaterRowers is self-regulated, working on the premise that the faster you paddle, the more you increase the drag/resistance.

The WaterRower M1 is available in 2 different models with either a standard (M1 LoRise) or elevated seated position (M1 HiRise) whereas the S1 is only available in the standard low position.  The seat on each of these WaterRower models sits on dual rails with 4 corner wheels for added stability.

Look closely at the pictures of the WaterRower S1 and M1 and you’ll see that there’s a difference in the style of the frame design, with the S1 having a brushed stainless steel construction and the M1 having a coated tubular steel frame design.

There’s a slight difference in the overall weight between each of these rowing machines, with the S1 being the lightest (approx. 125 lbs with water), the M1 HiRise being the heaviest (approx. 157 lbs with water) and the M1 LoRise weighing somewhere in-between the other 2 (at around 148 lbs with water).

The WaterRower S1 and M1 models all require very little maintenance thanks to their professional quality design.  The “water flywheel” consists of 2 paddles that sit in an enclosed water tank so there’s no build-up of dust.  There’s no oiling required either thanks to the WaterRower’s smooth nylon strapping (no chain!) and pulley-free bungee cord.  The steel frame is rust-resistant and easy to keep clean.

The WaterRower S1 and M1 models are sturdily built, offering a user weight capacity of up to 1,000 lbs.

All of these WaterRowers come with a Series 4 Performance Monitor with quick selection buttons and navigations buttons and displays your workout stats over 6 information and program windows.  Workout stats displayed include:  stroke rate, intensity, duration, distance, zone bar, and heart-rate (compatible with optional heart-rate chest strap/receiver).

The WaterRower M1 LoRise and M1 HiRise Rowing Machines incorporate the same functionality as WaterRower’s original hand-made wooden machines but are constructed with a coated tubular steel frame more suited to a commercial gym setting.

As the names suggest, the main difference between the WaterRower M1 LoRise and M1 HiRise comes down to the height of the seat.  The M1 HiRise features elevated legs, offering a higher seated position at 20” above the floor compared to the M1 LoRise’s 12” seated position.  The M1 HiRise’s elevated position makes it easier to mount and dismount and is ideal for athletes recovering from injury or mature users.

There’s a slightly higher price tag with the WaterRower M1 HiRise machine, which retails online at around $100 more than the M1 LoRise.  This is a relatively small price to pay for the added benefit of the higher seat.

Apart from the difference in overall height, the WaterRower M1 LoRise and M1 HiRise are essentially the same machine, offering smooth self-regulated resistance with its “water flywheel” that mimics the feel of real water rowing.  Simply paddle faster to increase the drag for more resistance!

The seat on both these WaterRowers sits on dual rails with 4 corner wheels for increased stability, and offers a user weight capacity of up to 1000 lbs.

There’s very little maintenance with the WaterRower M1.  No oiling is necessary thanks to the M1’s smooth nylon strapping (no chain!) and a pulley-free bungee cord.  The water tank is fully enclosed so you won’t get any build up of dust in the water.  The steel frame is easy to clean and is rust-resistant.

Both the WaterRower M1 LoRise and HiRise rowing machines come with a Series 4 Performance Monitor, enabling you to keep track of your workout stats such as time, distance, intensity, stroke rate, zone bar and heart-rate (chest-strap & receiver available separately).  The Series 4 Monitor is easy to use with 6 Quick Selection Buttons and 3 Navigation Buttons.  Information is displayed across 6 information and program windows.

Simulate the feel of actual water rowing with the WaterRower M1 HiRise Rowing Machine’s “water flywheel”.

The WaterRower M1’s flywheel consists of 2 paddles that sit in an enclosed water tank and provides quiet, smooth and self-regulated resistance that eliminates the need for a motor.  Paddle slowly for decreased resistance or paddle faster to increase the drag for more resistance.  Movement is amazingly smooth and fluid with the WaterRower compared to most other types of rowing machines.

Built with a more modern-looking coated-tubular steel frame, the WaterRower M1 is highly durable and compliments traditional commercial fitness equipment in style.  The  frame's steel construction is easy to clean and is rust-resistant.

The WaterRower M1’s hi-rise seat makes it easy for anyone to get on and off the rowing machine.  Many rowing machines have a very low seat which some people, especially rehabbing athletes or mature users, find difficult to get on and off, whereas the WaterRower M1 offers a higher seated position that is 20” above the floor for easier access.  The seat itself sits on dual rails with 4 corner wheels for increased stability.

The WaterRower M1 requires very little maintenance compared to other rowing machines, thanks to its intelligent design and quality components.  The M1 utilizes smooth nylon strapping (instead of chains) and a pulley-free bungee cord, so there’s no oiling required as with other types of systems.  Also, because the water tank is enclosed you don’t get any build up of dust.

The LifeSpan E2i and E3i both offer a 20” stride length and an ergonomic Q-factor for comfortable, smooth and quiet motion.

Both the E2i and E3i Elliptical Trainers feature LifeSpan’s exclusive CoreBalance technology which identifies any imbalances in your strides via sensors integrated into the pedals which detect the amount of force from each leg and then relays the data to the console display.  This unique technology helps you to ensure equal distribution of efforts throughout.

So just how do the LifeSpan E2i and E3i elliptical trainers differ?  To begin with, the Lifespan E3i is the higher-end model and as you would expect for a flagship model retails at a higher price, so just what are you getting for your money and is it worth paying out extra for?

The main differences between the LifeSpan E2i and E3i include differences in the weight of the flywheel, the size of the console screen, handlebar controls.  The LifeSpan E3i has a 34 lb flywheel compared to the E2i’s 25 lb flywheel (generally speaking, the higher the flywheel weight, the more consistent the momentum will be).  Both machines have a blue backlit display but the E3i’s screen is 7.5” while the E2i’s screen is a little smaller at 6”.  The LifeSpan E3i has ramp and resistance toggle buttons built into the stationary handlebars which the E2i does not have.

Both the LifeSpan E2i and E3i offer Bluetooth capability so you can sync your workout data to your smartphone.  In addition, both elliptical trainers feature a sound system with audio-in and dual speakers so you can listen to your music as your exercise.
