Besides the difference in flywheel weight, the Sole LCR Recumbent Bike also has twice as many resistance levels than the Sole R92 (40 EMS levels on the LCR versus 20 ECB levels on the R92), so if you’re looking for a lot more challenge then the LCR is the one for you!

Both the Sole R92 and the Sole LCR Recumbent Bikes offer 10 preset programs to keep your workouts varied – 6 standard, 2 heart-rate and 2 custom programs.

Motivating workout stats including time, speed, distance, calories burned and heart rate are displayed on the Sole recumbent bike consoles.  Both the Sole R92 and LCR consoles are easy-to-use and offer Bluetooth connectivity for seamless transition of workout data to online fitness apps on your own mobile device.

However, the display screen on the consoles differ between these two recumbent bikes, with the Sole R92 having a 9” LCD screen and the Sole LCR having a 10.1” TFT LCD screen.

The Sole R92 and Sole LCR Recumbent Exercise Bikes both offer two ways of measuring your heart-rate as you exercise – via contact pulse grip sensors in the handlebars by the side of the seat or via a wireless chest-strap.  A chest-strap heart-rate monitor is included with the R92 but not with the LCR.

Both the Sole R92 and Sole LCR Recumbent Bikes are constructed with a low-step-through frame design that makes it easy to mount and dismount the comfortable padded seat.  The seat is adjustable for different user heights with simple to use adjustment levers with a sliding seat rail system (see user height compatibility listed in the comparison table below).

The ergonomic oversized pedals on both the Sole R92 and Sole LCR are designed with 2-degree inward incant to ensure correct body posture / joint alignment and helps to prevent strain on your feet and knees as you exercise.

Additional features of both the Sole R92 and Sole LCR Recumbent Bikes include:  water bottle holders so you can keep hydrated as you exercise; front and rear stabilizers for added stability; and front-mounted transport wheels for easy relocation.

Both the Sole R92 and Sole LCR Recumbent Bikes are electric powered and sturdily constructed with a durable heavy-duty steel frame and aluminum shroud.  The bikes have the same footprint but there is a slight difference between the weight of the two bikes (see specifications listed in the comparison table and bullet-points below) and subsequently there’s a difference in the overall user weight capacity between the two Sole bikes with the LCR supporting a higher user weight capacity of up to 350 lbs compared to the R92’s 300 lbs capacity.

Both the Sole R92 and Sole LCR Recumbent Exercise Bikes come with a generous warranty to reflect the manufacturer’s confidence in the quality of these bikes (see difference in warranties offered for each of these bikes listed in the comparison table below).

Summary

Recumbent exercise bikes in general offer an effective cardio fitness workout with a more laid-back feel that is easier on your joints than many other types of exercise, making them ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels and are particularly good for people who are new to exercise or those who have been advised to exercise whilst recovering from injury.  The step-through design of these types of bikes makes it easy to mount and dismount, while the seats with their backrests are designed for comfort and give welcome support to your body and joints as you exercise.  It’s easy to see why recumbent bikes are one of the easiest forms of exercise to stick with long-term to help you reach and maintain your fitness goals.

Both the Sole R92 and Sole LCR Recumbent Bikes are built to high specifications and ergonomically constructed for ultimate user comfort and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with either of them.

The specifications listed and compared above between the two bikes speak for themselves – obviously the Sole LCR is ideally suited for light commercial use such as in a physical therapy office for example or you may wish to choose the LCR for your home if you like the idea of more resistance levels to keep you challenged and for which you also get the heavier flywheel - generally speaking, the heavier the flywheel, the more smooth and consistent the momentum will be.

However, for most people looking for home use, the Sole R92 would be more than adequate for your needs and would save you some hard earned $$s!

N.B.  It’s advisable to consult your doctor or health care professional if you are new to exercise or if you have any concerns regarding your health and fitness regime.
