Top Best Bowflex Home Gyms Compared

The Bowflex Home Gyms are well-constructed, high-quality versatile gyms at affordable prices for home use. Home Gyms offer a total body strength workout with a great variety of exercises to strengthen all the major muscle groups of the body including abs, chest, back, shoulders, arms and legs.

The Bowflex Home Gyms offer a great range of resistance and exercise variety.  These home gyms are different to each other not only in the amount of resistance (including upgradable) and exercises they offer, but in their platform type (i.e. horizontal or vertical), type of resistance, and overall workout area required.  In order of price (lowest to highest), my top 5 best Bowflex Home Gyms are:

·         Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym
·         Bowflex Blaze Home Gym
·         Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym
·         Bowflex Xtreme 2SE Home Gym
·         Bowflex Revolution Home Gym

The Bowflex PR1000, Blaze and Revolution Home Gyms utilize a horizontal platform with the ability to fold the bench up to save space, while the PR3000 and Extreme 2SE utilize vertical platforms.  The advantage of the Bowflex home gyms with horizontal platforms is that they also offer cardio rowing which the vertical platforms don’t have.

The Bowflex PR1000, Blaze, PR3000 and Extreme 2SE feature unique Power Rod resistance (210 lbs) – the Power Rods provide resistance/weight that feels as good as free weights but without the inertia or risk of injury that’s typically associated with free weights.  The PR1000’s resistance is the only one that’s not upgradeable.  The PR3000 is upgradable to 310 lbs, while the Blaze and Xtreme 2SE is upgradable to 310 or 410 lbs.

The Bowflex Revolution Home Gym utilizes a different type of resistance technology called SpiraFlex Resistance (220 lbs) and is upgradable to 300 lbs.  The SpiraFlex technology ensures that the exercises with Freedom Arms (adjusts 170 degrees to work muscles from various angles) deliver ultra-smooth and consistent resistance throughout the entire range of motion to help build lean strong muscle.

The Revolution is Bowflex’s top of the range home gym, duplicating virtually every exercise from you local gym (over 100 exercises).

The Bowflex PR1000 offers 30+ exercises, the Blaze offers 60+ exercises, the PR3000 offers 50+ exercises, and the Bowflex Xtreme 2SE offers 70+ exercises.   (See tables below for more details.)

Bowflex PR1000 versus Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym, Compared

The Bowflex PR1000 and Bowflex PR3000 Home Gyms enable you to get a total body strength workout in the comfort of your own home at an affordable price.

Both the Bowflex PR1000 and Bowflex PR3000 are high quality, well-built and versatile Home Gyms, offering a great variety of strength exercises, enabling you to strengthen the muscles in your abs, arms, chest, back, shoulders, and legs.

Featuring Bowflex’s unique patented Power Rods, both the PR1000 and PR3000 provide resistance or weight that feels as good as free weights but without the inertia or risk of injury/joint pain that’s traditionally associated with free weights.

The Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym is the higher-end model over the PR1000, and as you would expect retails at a higher price, so what are you getting for the extra cash and do you really need the extra features or is the PR1000 good enough for you?

To begin with, there is a marked difference in the build of the two Bowflex machines, with the PR1000 being a Horizontal platform which folds to save space, whereas the PR3000 is a Vertical platform.

Both of the Bowflex Home Gyms feature a 210 lbs Power Rod Resistance but the PR3000 is upgradeable up to 310 lbs whereas the PR1000 is not upgradable.

The Bowflex PR3000 offers the ability to perform more strength exercises than the PR1000 - over 50 exercises with the PR3000 compared to over 30 exercises with the PR1000.

However, the Bowflex PR1000 includes a rowing machine rail to perform cardio rows which the PR3000 does not have.
