Comparing ProForm Endurance 720 E versus ProForm Endurance 520 E Elliptical Trainer Machine, What's the Difference?

With plenty of features and a nice compact design for home-use, the ProForm Endurance 720 E and 520 E are impressive elliptical trainers at a very reasonable price, rivalling some of the more expensive machines!

Both the ProForm Endurance 720 E and 520 E elliptical trainers feature a front-wheel drive system with inertia-enhanced flywheel and Silent Magnetic Resistance (SMR) for smooth and quiet operation.

The ProForm Endurance 720E and 520 E come with their own workout console to keep track of your workout stats and offer a great variety of programs and resistance levels to keep your workouts varied and challenging.  Both machines are iFit compatible and feature an integrated tablet holder, along with a sound system (iPod compatible and 2 speakers) and USB charging port.

So how do the ProForm Endurance 720 E and 520 E elliptical trainers differ?  To begin with, the ProForm Endurance 720 E is the higher-end model over the 520 E and as such offers additional functions and improved specifications but do you really need these extra features and are they worth paying out the extra $$s for?  Let’s take a look...

ProForm Endurance incline
Adjustable incline
The ProForm Endurance 720E has a heavier flywheel weight - 20 lb versus 15 lb on the 520E (generally the heavier the flywheel, the more consistent the momentum).  The 720E has a 20” Power adjustable stride compared to the 520E’s Manual adjustable stride, as well as a 20 degree Power adjustable incline ramp compared to the 520E’s Manual adjustability.

In addition, the ProForm Endurance 720 E offers more programs and resistance levels compared to the 520 E, with 24 workout apps compared to 18, and 20 digital resistance levels compared to 18.  The 5” backlit LCD monitor can be powered by batteries or the included wall plug adaptor.

Both the ProForm Endurance 720 E and 520 E come with an EKG grip-pulse heart rate monitor, but the 720E is also Bluetooth compatible giving you the option of using a wireless heart rate monitor (available separately).  The 720E also comes with a cooling fan which the 520E doesn’t have.

Summary:

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with either the ProForm Endurance 720 E or 520 E – both are great quality elliptical machines built to last.  Personally I think the relatively small extra cost of the ProForm Endurance 720 E is worth it, especially for the extra features, programs, resistance levels and Power adjustability of the stride length and incline.

However, for many people, the ProForm Endurance 520 E would be more than adequate for their needs and still has plenty of programs and resistance levels to keep your workouts interesting.  The fact that this elliptical trainer is iFit compatible, iPod compatible with speakers and a USB charging port is a bonus on an elliptical machine at this low price point.

N.B.  It’s always advisable to consult your doctor or health care professional before undertaking any new exercise regime.
