Both the Kettler Favorit and the Kettler Kadett are well-built low-priced rowing machines that simulate water rowing and allow you to work out in the comfort of your own home. Whilst obviously not the quality of a WaterRower or Concept2, the Kettler rowing machines are ideal for home use and will cost you a lot less money!

The Kettler Favorit and the Kettler Kadett both offer a circular rowing motion, featuring 2 hydraulic cylinders to control resistance.  Both Kettler rowing machines feature a comfortable thick padded seat combined with top grade rollers for smooth gliding along a steel track.  Both rowing machines feature biomechanically correct footplates for a natural pivoting action.

Both the Kettler Favorit and the Kettler Kadett come with a workout computer with a high-resolution LCD display monitor that displays your workout stats like time, distance, energy consumed, pulse rate (via included infrared earlobe clip sensor), strokes, frequency, scan, and recovery feature.

Both rowing machines provide a good range of resistance levels to keep your workouts challenging.  But where the two Kettler rowing machines mainly differ is in the way in which the resistance is adjusted.  The Kettler Favorit’s resistance can be adjusted by repositioning the piston’s clamps to the various knurl marks (50 knurl marks) on each rowing oar.  However, the resistance on the Kettler Kadett is altered by using adjustment knobs (with settings from 1 to 12).

Useful tip:  A 30 minute workout on a rowing machine can burn between 262-449 calories for ladies or 310-531 calories for men, depending on the intensity of the workout.

See what people who have bought either the Kettler Favorit or Kettler Kadett Rowing Machine have to say about them:

L.Y.:
“I love my Kettler Favorite – it’s a great rowing machine – very sturdy, smooth and quiet.  It’s smaller than I thought it would be which is good for me as it doesn’t take up too much space but is big enough to provide a full range of motion.  I felt a bit intimidated about assembling it, but it went together with no problems.  The monitor is mounted as soundly as it could be but I think a bit of duct tape or super glue will sort that.  Apart from that, it’s a good solid machine which is what is important.  I would suggest getting a mat to put underneath it if you’re going to use it on a hard smooth floor, otherwise it might move about.  I bought a Kettler floor mat and it keeps the rowing machine in place.  I’m very pleased with my purchase.”

N.B.:
“The Kettler Kadett strongly mimics rowing a small boat on the water.  It’s more “sculling” versus machines with a single handle.  This rowing machine is very smooth and quiet.  It gives a fantastic workout, you can definitely feel the muscles have been worked the next day!  I’ve had different exercise machines over the years, including a home gym, an elliptical trainer and a treadmill, but this rowing machine is quickly becoming my favorite!”

  1. With respect, you actually missed the key difference between the Kadett and the Favorit, and the reason why someone might be willing to spend an extra 200 for the Kadett and that is the two have very distinct rowing motions. The Kadett's rowing motion is designed to closely mimic sculling with much less vertical hand movement than on the favorit. Both will give you a good workout, but on the Kadett it will feel more like you are actually in a boat. The Kadett can also fold up.
