Both the Schwinn 230 and Schwinn 270 Recumbent Bikes are well-built and come highly rated, but what’s the difference between these 2 models and how do you decide which is best for you?
To begin comparing: the Schwinn 270 is the higher-end model over the Schwinn 230, with additional features such as extra programs (29 versus 22), more resistance levels (25 versus 20), additional user profiles (4 versus 2), and Bluetooth connectivity which the Schwinn 230 does not have.

Both the Schwinn 230 and Schwinn 270 Recumbent Bikes utilize a high-speed high-inertia perimeter weighted flywheel together with ECB (Eddy Current Brake) magnetic resistance system which gives a smooth and quiet workout.
The consoles on each of the Schwinn recumbent bikes differs slightly - both have a dual display, but the Schwinn 270's display is blue backlit and is also telemetry enabled for your own heart-rate monitor - features that the Schwinn 230 doesn't have. Both bikes do however have contact-grip pulse heart-rate sensors in the handlebars.

Both the Schwinn 230 and Schwinn 270's consoles display motivating stats throughout your workout so you can see things like distance, speed, time, calories burned and pulse. Both bikes also offer USB charging and data export, along with performance tracking with Goal Tracker. The Schwinn 270 has the advantage of Bluetooth connectivity for seamless transition of workout data to online fitness tracking apps (the Schwinn 230 does not have Bluetooth but you can use the USB port to transfer data instead).
The seat on both the Schwinn 230 and Schwinn 270 is adjustable for different user heights and offers a comfortable workout with a backrest for support. The backrest is vented to help with airflow and there's even a workout fan built into the console to help keep you cool.
Both the Schwinn 230 and Schwinn 270 Recumbent Bikes feature an acoustic chamber sound system so you can listen to your favorite music as you exercise or you can keep entertained with your mobile device or read a book using the built-in media tray.

Summary
Recumbent bikes offer a form of low-impact exercising, and are particularly good for people with back problems when other forms of exercising is out of the question. Low-impact exercising is more gentle on your bones and joints than higher impact exercises.
Both the Schwinn Recumbent Bikes are considered to be virtually silent in operation and both have a very smooth action. You may be able to hear a very faint noise at the higher resistance level, but with music or the TV on, this won’t be at all noticeable.
The seats on both the Schwinn 230 and 270 are adjustable for different users and with the lumbar support are very comfortable.
The step-through design of these recumbent bikes makes it extremely easy to get on and off, unlike traditional bikes where you have to climb up to get on the seat.
For many people the Schwinn 230 has enough workout programs for their needs, but if you’re the sort of person who gets easily bored then you may benefit from the extra programs and challenges that the Schwinn 270 Recumbent Bike offers.
If there are more than 2 people in your household who are likely to want to exercise on a Recumbent Bike, then the Schwinn 270 would be more beneficial to you as it supports up to 4 different user profiles.
