SNODE 8722 vs 8731 Indoor Cycling Bike, Comparison Review

The SNODE 8722 and SNODE 8731 Indoor Cycling Bikes are surprisingly well-built for such a low price, rivalling many of the spin bikes in the higher-end categories.

Both the SNODE 8722 and SNODE 8731 Indoor Cycles are ergonomically designed with plenty of adjustability to suit different rider heights and to support different cycling postures.

If you look closely at the pictures, you will see that the design of these spin bikes’ frames are different to each other, particularly the bottom part of the frame, with the SNODE 8722 being constructed with a double-orbit frame along with a flywheel cover which the SNODE 8731 does not have.

There’s a slight difference in the weight of the flywheel between these two SNODE indoor cycles, with the SNODE 8731 having a 5 lbs heavier flywheel than the SNODE 8722 (35 lbs on the 8731 compared to 30 lbs on the 8722).  It is generally considered that the heavier the flywheel weight, the more consistent the momentum will be.  Many spin bikes in the lower-priced categories generally have a much lower weighted flywheel of around 20-25 lbs, so the flywheel on both of these SNODE spin bikes is very good.

Resistance knob & push-down brake
The SNODE 8722 and 8731 Indoor Cycling Bikes utilize a belt drive and magnetic resistance system for super smooth and quiet operation.  The resistance is adjustable via a simple-to-use turn knob which doubles as a push-down brake – you are in total control of your workout – simply increase or decrease the tension to adjust the intensity of your workout.

Both the SNODE 8722 and 8731 Spin Bikes feature ergonomic multi-grip handlebars that allow for different hand-grip placements to accommodate different riding postures such as sitting upright, climbing, racing or standing postures while cycling.  The handlebars on both bikes are height adjustable from 42.5” up to 46.9” to suit different rider heights and riding positions.  The SNODE 8722 has the addition of elbow pads on its handlebars which the SNODE 8731 does not have.

Both the SNODE 8722 and 8731 Indoor Cycles have a comfortable padded seat which is 4-way adjustable, i.e. adjusts up, down, forwards and backwards for a custom fit for different riders.  The adjustability of the saddle allows for inseam height ranges from 28.3” up to 36.6”.

The SNODE 8722 and 8731 Indoor Cycling Bikes both come with an intelligent Digital Monitor that tracks and displays motivating workout data such as time, speed, distance, odometer, calories burned and pulse heart-rate.  Your heart-rate is measured by holding onto the pulse grip sensors that are integrated into the bike’s handlebars.

In addition, both SNODE spin bikes feature a handy tablet/phone holder on the handlebars beneath the digital monitor where you can place your own mobile device – ideal for following along with a spin class on YouTube or to watch a movie or listen to your favorite music as you exercise.

The SNODE 8722 and 8731 Spin Bikes have a Q-factor of around 20 cm and come with toe-cage pedals with adjustable straps.  The pedals can be swapped out for ones of your own if you prefer for example SPD pedals – compatible with 9/16”.

Additional features on both the SNODE 8722 and SNODE 8731 Indoor Cycles include a handy water bottle holder so you can keep hydrated as you cycle without having to stop / get off the bike, and there are front-mounted transport wheels so you can easily relocate the bike to a different area/room if required.

These spin bikes measure approximately 45” long by 20” wide by 45” high and you don’t have to worry about finding a space to place them near a wall power socket as they are manually operated – just 2x AAA batteries required for working the digital monitor.

Fitness tip:  Cycling for just 30 minutes could burn between 207-345 calories for women, or 252-420 calories for men, depending on the intensity of the cycling.

Summary:

To summarize, the main differences between the SNODE 8722 versus SNODE 8731 Indoor Cycles are the design of the frame (see images), weight of the flywheel (35 lbs on the 8731, 30 lbs on the 8722), flywheel cover and elbow pads on the 8722 which the 8731 does not have.

Which bike you choose will depend on whether the above differences matter to you.  The flywheel cover on the SNODE 8722 is a good safety feature to have, particularly if you have young children in your household for example!  You may also like the idea of the elbow pads on the 8722 to rest your arms on as you cycle – some people may find this particularly helpful towards the end of their workout when they start to feel weary!  However, other people may not like the elbow pads and find they just get in the way.

Remember that the heavier the flywheel weight is, the more consistent the momentum will be so if you’re looking to do some real intensive workouts, then the heavier 35 lbs flywheel weight of the SNODE 8731 may be better for you.

Apart from the differences indicated, the rest of the features on the SNODE 8722 and 8731 Spin Bikes are virtually the same and offer great value for money.  The construction, build quality and features of the SNODE 8722 and 8731 are well above average for spin bikes in this price category and rival many of the more expensive bikes.
